Dr. Gil Ad Ariely is the CKO (Chief Knowledge Officer) and senior researcher at the Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) of Lauder School of Government Diplomacy and Strategy, at The Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya;
Dr. Ariely is a leading expert on managing operational knowledge in critical environments, crisis management and emergency preparedness, terrorism studies and security studies. He consulted on knowledge methodologies, futures foresight, operational learning and Intellectual Capital to Government and Industry organizations around the world. Dr. Ariely helped install cutting-edge methodologies, structures and concepts of operational knowledge management as an interagency interoperability vehicle for command & control, and for lessons-learned mechanisms.
Dr. Ariely leads the consultancy Liron Systems Ltd., in parallel to being affiliated as a senior researcher at The Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT), in Lauder School of Government Diplomacy and Strategy, The Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya, where his research focus is on learning patterns and innovation in terrorist networks, and e-Government.
Dr. Ariely is a Lt. Colonel (ret.) with 20 years of experience. He initiated and helped inaugurate the field of Operational Knowledge Management in the IDF Ground Forces since 2001, was the first acting CKO (Chief Knowledge Officer) of the Ground Forces IDF, and has written the Army's first doctrine book on Learning during operations, and operational knowledge management.
Dr. Ariely lectures regularly on operational knowledge management and learning during operations, intellectual capital and innovation, e-Government and foresight, at Academic and International forums, and is a sought after speaker at international Terrorism studies and Homeland Security conferences.
Dr. Ariely earned his Ph.D. at the University of Westminster, London, researching knowledge and managing it in the Government sector, and the interrelationships with Intellectual Capital. He is a founding member of ICTAC (International Counter Terrorism Academic Community), a member of BIOPoM (Business Information, Organisation and Process Management) research Center at the University of Westminster, London, and a member of the Proteus USA group. He is also a member of ERGOMAS (European Research Group on Military and Society).
He serves on editorial boards of academic journals on Knowledge, and he sits on advisory boards of various government and industry organizations around the world. He also served as director (pro-bono) in public organizations/NGOs.
Dr. Ariely is an Associate Fellow of ICSR (International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence), Department of War Studies at King’s College, London.
